Reading time - 3 minutes
Long-time, no see :).
In the end, I have decided to start writing again. Hopefully this time I will be more consistent, as I have some interesting trips coming up and many untold stories about the last ones.
We’ve spent 4 full days in beautiful Malta, at the end of June. It is definitely not enough, but you still get the chance to taste it a bit.
The first thing we did was to pick up our rental car (in Malta all traffic drives on the left-hand side of the road as in the UK) and grabbed some food.
After that, we went to Mellieha beach. One of the few sandy beaches, in the north of the island. Very blue and not so crowded (maybe because it was Friday, not weekend). You will find other sandy beaches near Mellieha Bay, like Paradise Bay, Golden Bay, all of them in the same area.

We spent the day there until sunset and after we went and checked in. The accommodation we chose was an Airbnb in Gzira Area.
We’ve started our second day heading to Gozo Island. It is a 30 minutes ferry ride (with/without a car) from Cirkewwa Port. Price of the ferry: 15.7 euro for car + driver and 4.65e for each additional passenger in the car.
Gozo Island
First stop was Hondoq Bay. Crystal clear water, way better than a swimming pool. Perfect place if you want to jump and swim the whole day. There is also a small sandy beach nearby.

Second stop was at this AMAZING place, called Maxokk Bakery.
If you are going to Gozo, this is a must. Great local food bought directly from their kitchen.

The third stop for that day was Ramla Bay – a red sandy beach. Nearby is Tal Mixta Cave, worth a visit at sunset. The cave can be reached by car.

Going back to the main island, we had drinks at The Bridge, a cozy-hippie bar in Valletta. The place was buzzing with people sitting outside on the steps. A must for your stay.

And here we are, third day and the most exciting one.
Blue Lagoon – Comino Island
We woke up at 7am, just to make sure we’re getting in the first ferry to Comino Island at 9 a.m. The ticket price is 10 euro roundtrip from Cirkewwa Port.
We really thought that we are going to be the first ones at Blue Lagoon, but we were wrong…
There are no words to describe the beauty of this place.

But despite the beauty, there is something annoying: way too many people. From my point of view, access should be limited to a certain amount of daily visitors.
The area is very rocky, so there is no sand to lay on. The best option was to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella for 25e/day. Around you can find shops to buy drinks and food and all that is left is to enjoy it.

Around 4pm we left blue lagoon and made a short stop at Popeye’s Village.
We had no time to enter, but the view from the top is breathtaking and my recommendation is to save a full day for this Village.
Popeye Village Malta has grown from its days as a Film Set of the 1980 Musical Production ‘Popeye’ into one of the major tourist attractions on the Maltese Islands filled with a number of colorful fun activities for all young and young at heart. It’s open all year round.
Ticket price is between 15 and 17 euro (depending on the month you’re going) and you have access to different activities.

For the evening our choice was Cafe del Mar, from where can be admired an amazing sunset and also feel the Maltese Club vibes.

Time is flying when you are having fun and here we were on our last day.
We started the day with an awesome breakfast at Jubilee in Valletta. It’s a lovely spot with great food and good prices. We took our time after that and walked around the capital city.

Since the sun was shining bright, we had to go to the beach and cool ourselves out.
St. Peter’s Pool
St Peter’s pool Marsaxlokk is another lovely beautiful natural peaceful inlet pool that is frequented by many tourists. When the sea is calm, the color of the water is incredible.

And last, but not least, Marsaxlokk Fishing Village – the largest fishing harbor of Malta. It has been so since antiquity and today the greater part of fish sold on the islands are caught by fishermen coming from this village.
Here you will find the colorful fishing boats and enjoy one of the most delicious meals on the island.

I hope this post will inspire you to book a ticket for Malta.
Happy travels,
C.
